Frequently Asked Questions

Our tools are made to last many years but it’s important to know how to care for them. The short version: rinse after use, wash by hand, and dry promptly.
Stainless Steel
Rinse right after use, especially after citrus, bitters, or salty garnishes. Acids and salt left to sit can dull the finish over time.
Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap. A soft sponge or cloth is all you need.
Dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots, which show most on polished finishes.
Avoid steel wool, abrasive scrubbers, and bleach. They scratch the finish and can cause pitting.
Never Place in the Dishwasher
Wood
Hand wash only, and never soak. Wash with mild soap and warm water, rinse, and dry right away with a towel.
Never put wood in the dishwasher. Heat and prolonged moisture cause warping and cracking.
Re-oil occasionally with food-grade mineral oil or a board conditioner. Apply a thin coat, let it soak in for several hours or overnight, and wipe off the excess.
Light scratches on a cutting board are normal. Sand lightly and re-oil to refresh it.
Wood is a natural material, so grain and color will deepen and change with use. That's part of its character.
Silicone
Wash by hand with warm soapy water, or on the top rack of the dishwasher.
Avoid direct contact with open flame and sharp knives.
Glass
Hand wash with warm, not hot, water, and avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause cracking.
Handle with care. Glass can chip if knocked against hard surfaces.
General tips
Don't leave tools sitting wet in a sink or bar tub.
Store them dry, and keep wood away from heat sources.

When spirits are aged in barrels some of the liquid evaporates through the wood. Typically this amounts to 2% of total volume per year. Because these spirits seemingly evaporated into the heavens this phenomena was named “The Angel’s Share”.
